De Addiction Centre (IRCA)

Gandhibhavan started its De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in the year 2008 at Ezhamkulam near Adoor in Pathanamthitta Dist.

            In this centre Drug Addicts can be admitted and could undergo treatment for a month. A combined treatment system is followed here. Psychotherapy, Individual and Family Counseling, Yoga, Meditation, Family get together etc are arranged alongwith Medication as per Govt. norms, so that the Addict could get relief from this evil menace. The treatment consists of good and healthy food, care, recreation, tour programmes etc. This programmes is implemented with the co-operation of Health, Excise, Social Justice and the support of Central Ministry of Socail Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India.

            The treatment is provided by experienced and expert team of physician, psychiatrist, psychologist and different kinds of therapists. Almost 200 people per year have got treatment and got cured. Periodic follow up treatment is also provided for the discharged patients by arranging home visit, telephonic counseling, family get together etc. A.A (Alcoholic Anonymus) meeting is a self-governed meeting of previous treated alcoholics and the De-Addicts could explain their bad experiences from Alcohol and Drugs with others. Continuous awareness programmes and classes are arranged for the whole society, including students so that the society as a whole in different level could be made aware of the evil practice of drug addiction. A development committee of social activists is giving leadership for these programmes
